Bonnie MacKenzie
3/24/1944 - 8/4/2021
Bonnie began teaching at age 14 in downtown Portland, Oregon, then moved her studio to her home in Lake Oswego, Oregon where she taught for more than 50 years. She touched the lives of many dancers, teachers and parents worldwide as she traveled to local competitions, the NW Regional Championships, USIRs and “The Worlds”. She had a special love of choreography and created many brilliant dances in her career. Her love of teaching the theory of Highland Dance produced many PHDA teachers and PHDA members. Her smile, her infectious laugh, the stories, the jewelry and her way of always being dressed to the nines will be dearly missed.
Portland Highland Dancing Association is pleased to host the “Bonnie MacKenzie Memorial Solo Choreography Competition” in her honor this year.
